Message from Fr. John Chrysostom Tibakunirwa, Pastor

Christmas is fast approaching, today we are celebrating the Fourth Sunday of Advent. The Readings bring to light what will help us to fruitfully celebrate. In the Gospel of Matthew 1:18-24 we hear a story of Joseph learning Mary is pregnant, his intentions to divorce her quietly, and the angel's message do not fear to take Mary as your wife because her child is from the Holy Spirit: He will be named Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. From Prophet Isaiah 7:10-14 we gather, a prophecy is given to King Ahaz promising a sign: a young woman will bear a son called Immanuel, meaning God with us. Together these passages connect prophecy and fulfilment showing God's presence entering human history. So to speak Matthew intentionally cites Isaiah to show continuity between God's promises and their realization in Jesus. This reassures us a believer that God's promises are trustworthy across generations.
