Message from Fr. John Chrysostom Tibakunirwa, Pastor

Dearly beloved of God, today we celebrate the Sunday following Christmas as the Holy Family. It is characterized by unwavering faith, love, the spirit of understanding and being mindful of a life of holiness.

The Readings proclaimed to us give two connected themes for the Holy family and for us namely: God's protection when we obey Him and how loving service within the family reflects God's care. They combine a story about Joseph protecting Mary and Jesus, wisdom about honoring parents, practical instructions for Christian behavior, and a Psalm celebrating the blessings of a faithful household.

The Psalm promises blessing, fruitfulness, and peace to those who fear the Lord. It portrays a household enjoying the rewards of faith: happy family life, prosperity, and respect in the community. This is a hopeful picture that complements the other Readings: faithfulness brings blessing and it is in pursuing such directions is a life of holiness possible in ordinary family relationships. Practicing such virtues helps make the home a place of peace and spiritual growth.
