Message from Fr. John Chrysostom Tibakunirwa, Parish Administrator
God summons Ezekiel to be a Prophet to try and change the behavior of the people. So much does God want Ezekiel to take on this mission of transforming the hearts of the people. God even says He will hold Ezekiel responsible for the people's behavior.
In the powerful Psalm 95 used every day in the liturgy of the Hours, we remind ourselves that if we hear His voice today we should not harden our hearts. Paul tells the Romans that all the commandments are summed up in one, "Love your neighbor as yourself."
Jesus tells His disciples to be patiently helpful to our brothers and sisters who sin against us. We are to go to work it out one on one as opposed to trashing the offender before everyone else. We are to go first to the person himself or herself. If that does not work, Jesus tells us to take two others to still try to build a bridge of healing. Finally Jesus says that if that does not work, we should let this be a matter for the community. Only after all effort at reconciliation has failed, should we say, we had done the best we can.
Jesus clearly builds His community in which we care for one another, even when there is conflict and division. And at the end of this Gospel Reading, Jesus assures us that whenever we are gathered together in prayer, He will be with us, as together we aim at finding the path to peace built upon some kind of reconciliation and a just care for the common good especially for those on the margins of society.

Parish Picnic
You're invited to our summer's end Parish Picnic, Sunday, September 10, beginning with our Hispanic Mass at 12:30 pm. This will be a bilingual Mass, so the English-speaking Community can participate.
The picnic follows Mass from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm: There will be music, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn. Cotton Candy, Vacalaitos, Cheese Nachos, Snacks, Live Music by our Holy Name Choirs and more.
There is a list to sign up family or friends who will attend the picnic with you. It is very important to sign up so that we have an idea of how many people will attend, to ensure that we can provide enough food for everyone.
This year, instead of selling tickets, we are accepting donations. At the Church door to the parking lot, there is a list of items needed - you may choose the items you wish to donate by writing your name and phone number next to your chosen donation. You have until September 3 to bring your donations; donations that require refrigeration will only be collected on Sunday, September 3 after each Mass.
Also, there will be another signup form if you are able to help set up before or clean up afterwards.
Thank you so much for your continued support, and we hope you all can attend.
