Message from Fr. John Chrysostom Tibakunirwa, Pastor

Beloved of God, we gather to celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord- A Feast that reveals Jesus not only as the Savior of Israel but as the Light of all Nations. The Word Epiphany means 'manifestations or Appearance, and in this mystery, God makes Himself known to the World through the visit of Magi who come from the East to worship the newborn King guided by a star.

The Magi's journey was not just an excursion; it was a Pilgrimage of the Heart. Guided by the Star, they left behind, comfort, security and familiarity to seek the Newborn King. They remind us of that faith often begins with a stirring in the heart- a restlessness that only God can satisfy. When they found the Child with Mary His Mother, they fell down and worshipped Him. Their gifts—gold, frankincense and myrrh—were not random offerings but symbols of who Jesus is Gold for royalty—for His Kingship, Frankincense (worship/Priestly Offering- For His Divinity), and Myrrh (anointing and foreshadowing suffering) Matthew connects Jesus' birth to fulfillment of the Prophecy and shows that God's salvation is for all peoples. God's light draws all nations to worship: responding like the Magi means seeking God, offering our best, and following God's guidance with faith and humility.

Today as a Holy Name Church we conclude the Jubilee Year "Pilgrims of Hope" together with the sacred sacrifice of the mass and Parish Family Meal. It is a joy to experience we have journeyed together in faith. May we put to good use the spiritual benefits specific to this Jubilee years ahead.
