Message from From Your Pastor
|
|
Dear brothers and sisters, this is the Fifth Sunday of Lent. In the Gospel of John 11:1-45 we learn Jesus stands before the tomb of His friend Lazarus and weeps. This is one of the most human and tender moments in Scripture. Our God is not distant from our pain- He enters into it. As it turns out, He does not stop at sympathy, he acts with profound empathy. He calls out: "Lazarus come out". This is the voice that calls each of us by name. It is the voice that says: come out of darkness. Come out of fear. Come out of sin. Come into the light of life. What happens promptly is: Lazarus comes out still bound in burial cloths. Jesus then tells the community: Unbind Him and let Him go. Resurrection is God's work. However, the unbinding is often entrusted to us. We are called to help one another.
