Message from Fr. John Chrysostom Tibakunirwa, Parish Administrator
We are celebrating the Fourth Sunday of Advent with the awareness that our lives keep us longing for God's presence.

Our First reading for this Liturgy depicts David sitting pretty in his palatial house of cedar. The Lord has helped defeat his enemies and the ark of God at last , has taken it's place in Jerusalem. It has been carried into present resting place accompanied by much dancing and musical celebration. We hear the conversation between David and Nathan the prophet. David is thinking about his being in a nice house and the holy presence of the Lord is outside in a tent The Gospel is the familiar narrative of how this Holy presence begins to take shape within the body of a young woman. The tent of her womb becomes the new Holy of Holies and the ancient prophecies are being fulfilled. In the middle of our Advent wreaths is a hole, an empty area which receives the full light of all the four candles this day. The lights announce the vacancy and promises completion which is to come.
Having actively participated in the Last Liturgical Year, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and New Year at Holy Name Church characterized by firm faith, peace and joy in your heart and family roots.

Remembering the Homebound at Christmastime

We have a list of parishioners who are homebound, and if you are interested in either sending them a note or card, calling them to chat, or visiting (with* or without a gift), their names will be on the Giving Tree in the Dickinson Street foyer (if the tree is in decent shape). You have until January 7th (a.k.a. known as “Little Christmas” – The Epiphany) to reach out.

*Candies are always a hit, or some hand crème, or pens, stamps, note cards, and the like. Perhaps a call prior to a visit would be best, to ensure what you are thinking of bringing will work best.

There will be a Bible Study with Sr. Leila on the first Tuesday of each month starting in January from 10-10:45a.m. in the church. We will be studying the Beatitudes. Everyone is welcomed to come.
